Gina Carano always looks good at the beach.

Gina Carano at the beach in a rubber suit? Fetishists around the globe take note.

This shot was taken during filming of her upcoming movie “Haywire,” which also stars Ewan McGregor and is set to be released on April 22.

Carano is currently rumored to be set for her Strikeforce return on June 18 when the promotion hits the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.

Comebacks and a Rumored Match-up

Gina Carano announced her return to MMA during Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Silva this past Saturday. She hasn’t fought since she was demolished by current 145-lb. champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos in August 2009. However, Carano is now done with filming for the movie Haywire and says she is training in Las Vegas. The 145-lb. division may not be stacked, but it’s heated up a bit in the past year and a half with many fighters wanting their shot. Should be interesting. Look for Carano sometime in June 2011.

Also returning is Erin Toughill Melanson will be back in the cage! She is fighting for FCF on April 9th. Her last fight was in May 2009, when she defeated Emily Thompson by decision in her 4th consecutive win. Toughill’s last loss was in 2004 and she was in negotiations to face Shana “Rock Solid” Olsen, but negotiations fell through when Toughill asked to fight at a catchweight and Olsen wanted to stick to 145.

Speaking of Shana Olsen, according to sources close to MMA HQ, word on the street (read: an unconfirmed rumor) is that Shayna “Queen of Spades” Baszler will be fighting Shana “Rock Solid” Olsen at a catchweight of 140 lbs. on April 28th. If this unverified rumor turns out to be accurate, look for Olsen to try to bully the Queen of Spaces on their feet and for Baszler to pull out her old-school wrestling and slick submissions.

Rankings Changes

Look for ranking shakeups in March. One big change is that Angelica Chavez pulled in at 5th place in the strawweight division after her recent win,* knocking Diana Rael out of her #10 slot. Mei Yamaguchi and Yuka Tsuji are now inactive, so everyone is shifted up with Seo Hee Ham and Lynn Alvarez coming in at the #9 and 10 slots in the flyweight division. And with Yuka Tsuji out of her #10 ranking in the pound-for-pound rankings, Rosi “the Surgeon” Sexton comes in at #10. Some new categories will also be added–so stay tuned!

Angelica Brotherton will be facing Patricia Vidonic at AOF 11: Fusion in Florida.

Natalie Evans and Jennifer Gonsalez will both be making their MMA debut when they face each other at CageSport 13 in Tacoma, Washington.

But some of the most exciting fights are happening on the *following* week: Seo Hee Ham vs. Saori Ishioka, Rosi Sexton vs. Roxanne Modafferi and fan favorite Jessica Aguilar vs. an unannounced opponent.
